 Description  : We are looking for a Packaging Operator

Complete all documentation as prescribed e.g. Production, Quality Checks, Master Cleaning, Downtime Tracking, Coding, Work Orders, Pre-Op checks, Packaging Summary Sheet, etc.

Get resources assistance to ensure line runs properly i.e. maintenance, blending, shipping, quality assurance, R and D, supervisory support, etc.

Ensure line has packaging materials and WIPs when required

Set up and operate all equipment required on the line that pertains to the production schedule

Run the line at standard speed as required to meet quality, productivity and safe operations as prescribed

Apply accurate lot/label code and Julian calendar on the product as required

Make minor adjustment to equipment as required for efficient run as scheduled and planned

Clean and stage the line and equipment to avoid delays in operation

Ensure to inspect first product out that it meets quality parameters prior to continued production runs

Complete metal detector checks as prescribed from start to finish of production runs.

Apply correct labels on cases where necessary throughout the production runs/shifts and re-check for accuracy from time to time

Hang or stage properly labelled totes based on production requirements and replenish or remove as required

Perform weight control checks as prescribed and follow control guidelines and adjust as required

Document line operation abnormalities, apply required tags on cases produced on the skid, use correct skids, web, shippers or packaging materials accordingly

Pack and palletize cases as prescribed and do collect finished goods sampling for microbiological test by QA as well as sifter tailings for analysis


Product Changeovers

Ensure line meets sanitation requirements for the next product scheduled. Ensure line clearance is observed as well as timely staging of the next product run or materials to avoid delays. Seek maintenance, warehouse, blending and quality assurance help as required. Change carton size, filler settings, product type/tote, pouch sealing, etc. Set sifter screens, case labels, coding for best before dates/expiry dates, weigh scales, or any related equipment required, etc.

Keep track the miscellaneous tools used on a daily basis and properly account them after each end of the shifts

Coordinate with all concerned as to any required documentation and packaging materials, WIP’s needed to effectively meet the timelines of change-overs


GMP / Housekeeping / Safety

Maintain 5S of work area throughout the shift or production runs including the mezzanine areas

Assist on the physical inventory or cycle counts as needed


Support Machine Operators

Relieve for breaks or run other equipment as needed

Retrieve, assist and or coordinate packaging materials from designated storage and place on assigned packing area

Move full skid from end of line and supply empty pallets. Randomly inspect all outgoing cases produced prior to packing or palletizing that it meets the desired quality parameters. Communicate to the team members of the line for any product abnormalities and or report to Operations Supervisor/ Maintenance for assistance.

Other tasks that may be assigned from time to time as required such as housekeeping, relieving and line staging. Attend all required trainings such as SOP’s, continuous improvement initiatives, safety, quality, town hall meetings, operations productivity KPI’s, etc.


Requirements

A minimum of 3 - 5 years of industrial machine operator experience;

Ability to work in a team environment;

Able to work under pressure and deadlines

Flexibility to work different shifts to meet the demands of production

Strong communication skills.


Shift: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and 3:00 to 11:00 pm. Must be flexible for both shifts during the training period.
Pay: $14 - $16 / hour based on experience
