Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
Large workload, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Tight deadlines, physically demanding, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Overtime required, Handling heavy loads.
Duties:
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to ascertain specifications and calculate requirements.
• Prepare design according to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Build, install, maintain, and repair structures and parts by measuring, cutting, designing, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
• Build foundations, basement, install floor beams and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, etc.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residential and commercial wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants etc.
• May also prepare quotations and provide material estimate to clients.
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites, Survey building locations and levels.
• May provide instructions to trainee and supervise other workers.
