Toro Bar & Bar, operated by Yinghe Restaurant Ltd., is a well-known sushi restaurant located in the heart of downtown Victoria, BC. We are recognized for our authentic Japanese cuisine, clean and inviting atmosphere, and dedication to eco-friendly dining trends. Our 4,000 square-foot space accommodates up to 100 guests, providing a cozy yet vibrant dining experience.

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Cook to join our growing culinary team. If you have a strong background in food industry with experience in food preparation and handling, and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, maki, and sashimi, ensuring the highest quality and presentation according to established recipes and menu plans of restaurant.
• Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Assist in meal preparation and presentation, ensuring dishes are served at optimal temperature and quality.
• Prepare and cook special sushi dishes for customers with dietary restrictions or special requests, following instructions from the sushi chef.
• Follow all food safety guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure quality.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and ensure proper food storage procedures.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff for smooth and efficient service, especially during peak hours.
• Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
• Oversee kitchen helpers to ensure effective kitchen operations.

Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school education.
• Proven experience working in a kitchen or restaurant environment.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques; minimum 1 year of direct sushi preparation experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with food handling practices and safety regulations; valid Foodsafe Certificate is required.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration.
• High attention to detail, particularly with food presentation and cleanliness.
• Ability to adapt to menu changes and special dietary requirements.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
