Position: Marine HazMat Expert

Start Date: ASAP

Job Type (i.e. Full-time; Temporary (1 year)): Temporary: 2-4 weeks in February, 2-4 weeks in April/May.

Job Description: Client is in the process of de-commissioning a gas production unit scheduled for July 2020. International regulations require surveys completed to document presence and quantity of all hazardous materials on the unit, as the unit will go to a garbage/recycling plant and must have survey and breakdown of materials in order to cross international borders.

Primary responsibilities include: Liaison with client's point of contact for mobilization of project; Collation of information and documents from vessel/client, to allow for desktop review; Review of vessel info and preparation of Visual Sampling Check Plan (VSCP); Carry out on board inspection and sampling exercise, within given time scales; Measure physical and chemical hazards and conduct environmental audit; Management of sample analysis process and final reporting (via NexGen) ready for final QC; Issuance of report(s) to client; Additional Hazardous Materials management and consultancy to implement safety strategy; Adhere to costings within project management and ensure work programs are followed.

Qualifications/Training: British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) P402, P403 and P404 (or equivalent); DNV GL Marine HazMat Expert certificate (or equivalent); Demonstrate experience in working with Marine Vessels and Offshore Assets. Basic knowledge of Regulation(EU) No1257/2013 - European Ship Recycling Regulations; Hong Kong Convention for Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships and Resolution MEPC.269(68)-Guidelines for the development of Inventory of Hazardous Materials. Experience in conducting Marine Asbestos and/or IHM Surveys is an asset, but training provided -BOHS P402, P403 and P404 qualifications (or equivalent). DNV GL Marine HazMat Expert Certification or equivalent authorization level.

Wages: $60 per hour/ 40 hours per week.
