MIG Freight a large trucking company located in Brampton, is seeking qualified & talented applicants for the position of a GENERAL MANAGER. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and results driven with strong business development, management, entrepreneurial and negotiating skills to lead and grow the existing business. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the business including employees, sales, financial performance, budget processes and complex situation while delivering superior results and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for all business activities, staff development, revenue improvement, client relationships, enhancing company’s image and meeting overall growth objectives.
Your duties as a General Manager Trucking will include the following:
• Manage all aspects of our growing fleet of trucks and drivers
• Authorize, organize & coordinate the work of the various departments
• Allocate material, human and financial resources to implement organizational policies and programs
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in the company’s manual and as directed in the employee handbook
• Prepare and establish operating and financial objectives and budgets
• Establish financial and administrative controls
• Select middle managers, directors or other executive staff; delegate the necessary authority to them and create optimum working conditions
• Co-ordinate the work of regions, divisions or departments
• Develop and implement strategies for least cost routing and route optimization
• Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures;
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with management and staff members
• Regularly analyze the trucking market and develop or revise sales and marketing plans to capitalize on current market trends
• Negotiate and establish long term relationships with suppliers, carriers and customers
• Represent the organization, or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the organization, in negotiations or other official functions
• Communicate with outside vendors and equipment companies to maximize loads and generate more business
• Ensure proper communication within the company by facilitating and conducting regular meetings with the heads of departments, encouraging open door policy and proactively seeking feedback from the staff
• Lead and manage all department activities.
Desired Experience and Skills:
• A University Degree / Diploma
• English Language
• 5 years or more experience in the trucking industry in a leadership capacity. Exposure to planning, dispatch and management highly desired.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Superior knowledge of business functions with exceptional budgeting skills
• Ability to evaluate existing processes to identify, and potentially implement improvements.
• Excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills.
Job Type: Permanent, full time position
Salary: CAD$ 57.50/hour plus 4% vacation pay. Full-time permanent position at MIG Freight located at 136 East Drive, Brampton Ontario L6T 1C1
