Summary:

Providing leadership in the area of enterprise level database architect to drive the design and development of complex data systems and architectures for Chamberlain global operations. This position will interact with all levels of management across all business units. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven success in a dynamic, fast paced environment and show critical thinking, innovation, and agility in executing on multiple, complex initiatives. This position reports to and provides direct support to the Director of Infrastructure and Operation. This role will provide thoughtful leadership in delivering a holistic, best-in-class DBA program aimed at mitigating risk, ensuring continuity of operations, and safeguarding the Company’s assets, reputation, and brand.

Duties:

• Identify, develop, implement, and maintain Company database processes; implement Global Database policies, procedures, guidelines, standards, and best practices, evaluating enterprise-wide effectiveness and adherence to these measures
• Manage ongoing analysis of database exposures, evaluate program effectiveness, and develop benchmarking standards and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the database function
• Foster effective communication and coordination with CGI Global Security Team
• Directly manage Global DBA department personnel and consultants
• Perform database security management duties as needed
• Assist in the design of architecture requirements for entire enterprise
• Responsible for all major database components of SQL Server and has strong knowledge of the various interrelationships between major system components including networking, storage, server, OS, authentication, application code, and disaster recovery technology
• Oversee CGI’s managed service partner’s onsite, onshore, and offshore DBA personnel to execute service requests, incidents, backups, monitoring, performance tuning, and system troubleshooting
• Identify and provide recommendations to change and improve existing SQL server and database configurations
• Collaborate with the technical directors, engineers, and other IS teams to develop and execute both tactical and strategic architecture plans and implementations
• Accountable for the operational health of the Microsoft SQL database platforms supporting over 100 databases.
• The subject matter expert knowledgeable of all major components of SQL Server (SSRS, SSIS and SSAS) and requiring minimal technical guidance
• Delegate work to the personnel best qualified to perform activities for problem determination, product enhancements, and other technical issues
• Provide changes, feedback and approvals to our managed service partner’s operational documentation, best practices, and run books for the database platform
• Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams
• Protect CGI’s reputation by keeping information confidential
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
• Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in a Database Administration role
• 1+ year of experience working with database technologies in a public cloud environment
• Microsoft Azure Portal experience is required
• Experience with SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 versions, Windows 2008 R2 / Windows 2012
• Deep understanding of database design principals, Database Logical and Physical design
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of management and across all business units
• Demonstrated leadership ability to drive strategy, prioritize and mobilize resources across the Company
• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and providing effective support to all functions and individuals within the corporate structure
• Capable of working independently and in a team environment
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time and availability to provide after-hours support if required
