Samesun Hostels operates six hostels, from large cities such as Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Toronto. We deliver safe, clean, and friendly accommodation to our guests. At this time, we are currently searching for a permanent Hotel Clerk Supervisor for one of our locations in Toronto, Ontario – Samesun Hostel (“the Facility”).

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Hotel Clerk supervisor is responsible and accountable for coordinating and organizing the activities of hostel accommodation service clerks, and supervising the front desk team members, ensuring efficient and smooth operations, and ultimately maintaining guest satisfaction from the moment they check-in, until the moment they check out. This is a leadership position that requires experience in customer service and administration.

The job responsibilities and duties are as follows:
- Coordinating, assigning and reviewing work of hostel clerks;
- Establsihing work schedules, procedures, and coordinate activities with other units or departments alongside the general manager;
- Resolve clerk-related problems and submit progress and other reports to the general manager, pertaining to clerk staff and client engagement;
- Train hired staff in the job duties, company policies, and inform new staff on activities that take place within the hostel;
- General supervision of front desk team members to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction;
- Ensure accuracy of billing and payment processes during check-in and check-out of guests
- Monitor and review guest feedback and resolve customer complaints;
- Conduct credit card check for future reservations, and monthly reconciliation in travel partner websites; and
- Reply to all guest e-mails and communicate with travel partners in light of resolving booking issues when they arise.

Qualifications and skills are as follows:
- Post-secondary education (e.g. college-level diploma or university-level degree) in Hospitality and Tourism
- Minimum two years experience in tourism and hospitality services, experience in an accommodation facility is highly recommended;
- Minimum one year in customer service
- Experience with bill computation, payment collection, and payment adjustments

The ideal candidate should possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to warmly welcome and assist the diverse group of guests that arrive to our facility. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities are essential for efficiently managing check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries.

Additionally, a proactive and adaptable nature will be highly valued in ensuring a seamless and memorable stay for all guests. Finally, as a supervisor, the candidate should demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to independently manage a team, ensuring a smooth front desk operation and the highest level of guest satisfaction.

This is a full-time, permanent position, with a fixed salary of $22.56/hour. The candidate must be available for emergency coverages on other shifts, including holiday and weekends, as per the needs of the Facility.
