We currently have an opening in our Ayr, Ontario location for an International Field Service Supervisor / Technical Trainer. This key position within our organization will report to the General Manager and Senior Plant Manager. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a strong, self-directed work ethic. In a busy work environment, the ability to juggle multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines is a necessity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensuring that all duties and responsibilities are completed in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Assist in the planning, installation, and commissioning of specialized concrete production equipment. This may include completely new plant construction (green field) or specialized machinery upgrades and or equipment additions to existing facilities.
• Overall project supervision and project management.
• Supervise and train on site construction and maintenance personnel on the proper installation techniques as they relate to concrete production equipment and systems.





• Establish best practices and provide training in such as they relate to concrete production equipment.
• Supervise and train on site technicians on proper diagnostics and repairs at various locations throughout Ontario and the Northeastern United States
• Implementation of Preventive Maintenance Schedules for plant machinery and equipment.
• Assist plant managers in maintaining proper inventory levels of spare parts based upon manufacturers recommendations.
• Maintaining proper component drawings and electrical schematics.
• Responsibility for initiation of Purchase Orders.
• Ensuring that the equipment is maintained and functioning as per Unilock’s Total Quality Management Program.
• Ensure all maintenance and management reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Generate and implement continuous improvement ideas for production operations.
• Responsible for special research and development projects as required.
• Availability for emergency breakdowns and “on-call” situations as required.
• Ensuring the training of Maintenance Staff and Plant Operations Staff is ongoing and progressive.
• Perform Maintenance Employee and Plant Operations Staff evaluations as requested by senior management.
• Willing to work extra hours if required to complete tasks.
• Other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5 years maintenance or mechanical installation experience in a concrete manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in “new” plant construction and / or “new” equipment installations and commissioning in a concrete manufacturing environment.
• Project management experience is also an asset.
• 3 years proven Supervisory experience in a concrete manufacturing environment.
• Candidate must have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents as they relate to construction and machinery installations in the concrete industry.
• Candidate must possess a working knowledge of cranes and construction related material handling equipment. This includes safe rigging and hoisting techniques for heavy equipment installations.
• Candidate must be familiar with steel specifications and welding practices. Must also exhibit a good understanding of the safe and proper use of hand tools.
• Valid trade certification (433A) Industrial Millwright or equivalent field experience.




• Extensive working knowledge of concrete machine operations is required. This knowledge is industry specific. The Ideal candidate would have detailed working knowledge of concrete production plants and have worked with equipment vendors such as Top Work, Hess, Masa, Rekers, Schindler or equipment vendors of a similar nature.
• Experience in secondary processing equipment such as grinding, polishing and shotblasting is also an asset.
• Fundamental understanding of Preventative Maintenance Programs (CMMS)
• Candidate must be able to work independently as well as with others.
• Candidate must possess a valid driver license.
• Candidate must be willing to travel and have the ability to cross international borders.
• Business fundamentals such as (planning, budgeting, & purchasing) are an asset.
• The ideal candidate would also be capable of developing and maintaining a project budget and schedule and maintaining such.
• Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• The ability to train and motivate employees.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, Fluency in the German language both spoken and written are an asset.
• Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, MVR, and criminal background check.
