Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system.

What will I be doing?
• Lead a team that can develop and refine short-term, medium-term, and long-term planning strategies for bus fleet maintenance for 400+ Transit Coaches, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime
• Ensure that the planning function contributes to achieving the BFM goals of availability and reliability of fleet by aligning the available resources to the required capacity, including recommendations to increase resource request or reallocate resources
• Generate accurate forecasts based on historical data analysis and emerging trends to predict future maintenance needs and adjust planning strategies accordingly
• Manage a team that produces a detailed material requirements planning to use the preventative maintenance schedule, projected needs of spare parts for campaigns, past parts consumptions and any other information that can be useful for the MRP
• Produce a labour forecast that estimates the available wrenching time of the Coach Technicians and allows to align long term planning with the forecasted capacity
• Forecast requirements for external vendor support to balance out the gaps in resources
• Establish and manage an effective maintenance scheduling process that balances operational needs with resource availability, minimizing service disruptions
• Implement and maintain advanced information systems that support maintenance management and planning, ensuring data availability, and accuracy
• Lead a team that can develop and lead the use of advanced analytical tools and methodologies to derive actionable insights and ensure regular delivery of detailed reports on maintenance status and efficiency
• Plan and execute the development of the analytics skills of the team around analytics software
• Create a set of reports and dashboards that facilitate the analysis and decision making of the BFM management team by providing clear insights and drill down to actionable items
• Draft and oversee the annual maintenance budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and monitoring expenditure to ensure adherence to planned figures
• Provide a forecast of maintenance service requirements to ensure planning for vendor capacity to ensure optimization of vendor output and contribute to the planning of efficiency in contract management
• Develops strategies to address CSAT measurements including fleet availability, cleanliness and reliability
• Builds collaborative relationships with senior organizational leadership and gains trust with stakeholders
• Creates a working environment that is aligned with the organization’s desire to be an “employer of choice”
• Select middle managers, directors or other staff

What skills & qualifications do I need?
• A bachelor's degree in business administration or engineering
• Certification in Advanced Data Analysis processes or equivalent
• Minimum of 10 years in transportation fleet maintenance is required. This experience should include a specialization in advanced planning for large bus fleets.
• Experience leading an implementation and development of advanced analytical capabilities to optimize fleet operations and maintenance.
• Experience in leadership roles, with demonstrated skills in guiding teams and effectively managing projects with strategic insight.
• Experienced maintenance of public transit electric fleets, vehicles, etc.
• Certificated on Data Analytics, Root Cause Analysis, Electric Bus Operations & Maintenance
• Understanding of bus maintenance procedures, best practices, and standards, with specialization in electric vehicles.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (like R, or Python) and platforms
• Understanding of parametrization of systems modules such as Preventative Maintenance, Inventory Management, etc.
• Understanding of supply chain processes, especially concerning fleet parts procurement, vendor management, and inventory control.
• Experience with vendor management to manage development and delivery
• Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills
