Job Description

Operating and driving trucks with three axles to transport goods and materials as required
Safely loading, handling, and transporting goods and heavy cargo safely
Recording both materials picked up and delivered, performing pre-trip, en-route and maintain their vehicles before driving, updating lines, routes, total mileage and breaks every day
Reporting any accidents or delays to supervisors, ensuring inspection and repairs to keep their vehicle safe and legal to operate
Obeying traffic laws and following established traffic and transportation procedures
Verifying the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
Performing emergency repairs like changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains and spark plugs
Reading maps and following written and verbal geographic directions; reporting mechanical problems with vehicles.

Languages:: English

Education::No degree, certificate or diploma

Experience:: Will train

Security and Safety:: Criminal record check, Drug test

Transportation/Travel Information:: Willing to travel cross-border, Valid driver's licence

Specific Skills:: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Transport and handle dangerous goods, Drive lighter, special purpose trucks, Load and unload goods, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, Receive and relay information to central dispatch, Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled and fuel consumption, Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of the vehicle, Oversee condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment, Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations, Perform brake adjustments, Pay and receive payments for goods, Perform emergency roadside repairs, Perform preventive maintenance
