Eurowood Carpentry (2000) Ltd. is a Framing Contractor offering framing services to new home low- and mid-rise residential projects in the Greater Toronto Area and its outskirts.
Position Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated, hardworking and organized individual to fill an Estimator (NOC 22303) position.
Duties of the position:
- Prepare accurate framing labour take-offs according to our industry’s collective agreement with Local 183, using a software take-off tool.
- Estimate material and equipment costs based on contract bids, drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
- Estimate pre-contract costs
- Utilize quantity take-off procedures
- Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
- Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
- Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors
- Liaise, consult and communicate with senior managers, engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Organize client documents (architectural drawings, engineering documents, customer changes etc.) and store on the company’s server.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in civil/construction/architectural technology
- At least six months of experience in the estimating for a framing contractor
- Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents, to fully understand scope of work, timelines and contract requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is an asset.
- Strong verbal, written, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
Salary:
Competitive salary based on experience starting at $64,000.00 annually. This is a full-time permanent position (37.5 hours per week).
Mileage is paid for site visits.
