At this time we are looking for a Chief Estimator, the duties associated with this role are as
follows:

• Manage estimating scheduling and planning for the department;
• Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications;
• Operate as a communication link with the client/owner, architect and consultants;
• Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates;
• Attend scope review and tender award meetings with the president and clients;
• Carry out internal sales hand-off meetings with engineering teams;
• Review costing and proposals completed by the Estimating Managers;
• Obtain and review supplier quotes;
• Note discrepancies in the tender information and bring to the attention of engineering for discussion on how to deal with discrepancies;
• Create price matrix for each project;
• Establish and maintain tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures;
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project;
• Review and approve contemplate change orders (CCOs);
• Provide progress draw cost breakdown to Finance department;
• Review and mark-up contracts;
• Manage the administration regarding change orders and deviations from the original contract;
• Update sales and operations plan;
• Represent State, as requested, in business with clients, tenders, consultants, contractors and suppliers;
• Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, customers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers; and
• Any other tasks as assigned by the management.

Skills requirements:
• High School Diploma required, a bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Architectural technology or Construction Management is a strong asset
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in estimating window wall, curtain wall, railing systems and metal cladding
• Ability to read architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and landscape drawings
• Construction Estimation Certification is an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu and Estimating Software

This position is a full-time, permanent position where English is the primary language of work. The primary location of work will be at the primary business address: 220 Hunter’s Valley Rd, Vaughan.
