Responsibilities
Tasks
Supervise staff (apprentices, stages hands, design team, etc.)
Assign sales workers to duties
Hire and train or arrange for training of staff
Teach interest or professional development courses
Authorize payments by cheque
Exhibit designers plan and develop permanent and temporary or moveable exhibits and displays for museum exhibitions, trade shows, conventions, retail spaces and other exhibitions
Fashion designers design and create clothing and accessories for men, women and children
Order merchandise
Theatre designers design and create settings, scenic environments, properties, costumes and lighting for theatre, film and video productions, operas and ballets
Authorize return of merchandise
Establish work schedules
Sell merchandise
Prepare reports on sales volumes, merchandising and personnel matters
Organize and maintain inventory
Resolve problems that arise, such as customer complaints and supply shortages
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of workers
Oversee payroll administration
Conduct performance reviews
Supervise office and volunteer staff
