Job Description for the position of Long-Haul Truck Driver at Sitter Transport Ltd. is as:
• Operate and drive as solo/team driver; Reefer, Dry Van and/or Flatbed trucks to transport produce, goods and materials to and from BC to all provinces in Canada and in the USA.
• Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods.
• Perform pre-trip, on-route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories such as tires, lights, turn signals, brakes, cold storage etc.
• Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting goods.
• Obtain special permits and other documents on the US border; required to transport cargo on international routes.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled and fuel consumption.
• Administer bills of lading and maintain logbooks manually or electronically.
• Communicate with the dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices & onboard computers.
Skills and Experience requirement:
• Driver’s License - Class 1 or A, Air Brake Endorsement is required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience is an asset, will provide training, if needed.
• Basic knowledge of English language is preferred.
• Must be available to work early morning, in evening, at night and during weekend.
• Heavy lifting may be required; is physically demanding; sitting for long hours and attention to detail is required.
• Completion of Secondary Education is an asset.
