The Research Associate contributes to the overall success of the JFL Research Department ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

In this role, the Research Associate will work in a dynamic environment amongst a small group of highly trained professional analysts and portfolio managers. This position is regarded as a stepping stone towards increased responsibilities and incumbents will benefit from one-on-one coaching and mentorship.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader JFL's relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Works closely with Analysts and Portfolio Managers in support of investment ideas and processes.
  • Build and update detailed financial models.
  • Collect, analyze, and input company financial data.
  • Maintain database tables.
  • Understand how JFL's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with the firm's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials
  • CFA designation or pursuit thereof an asset
  • High-level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated passion for investment, member of an investment program / club
