Permanent Position: Long-Haul Truck Drivers

Wage Rate: $28.00 Hourly, for 50.00 – 60.00 Hours per week
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Languages: Basic Knowledge of English

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, large workload, Overtime required, physically demanding, Sitting
Communication Systems Experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer, Extended length tractor-trailer combination.
Type of Travel: Long haul, Provincial/territorial, International
Main Duties:
1. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials,
2. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
3. Load and unload goods,
4. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
5. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle,
6. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment,
7. Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations,
8. Receive and relay information to central dispatch,
9. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy,
10. Perform brake adjustments,
11. Pay and receive payments for goods,
12. Perform emergency roadside repairs,
13. Transport and handle dangerous goods,
14. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption,
15. Perform preventive maintenance
Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel internationally, Valid driver's licence, Willing to travel overnight
