Job Summary:
We are looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and skilled Welder, who is self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-moving environment and can effectively meet deadlines.
Duties and responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
• Operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding, and submerged arc welding (SAW);
• Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks modeling software, reading and modification;
• Reading blueprints and welding process specifications;
• Lining up and leveling all steelwork before bolting or welding together;
• Erecting and installing scaffolding, hoisting equipment, and rigging;
• Repairing worn parts of metal products by welding on additional layers;
• Adhere to all FEC Safety Policies and Procedures at all times.
• Working from a mobile elevated work platform to gain safe access to areas off the ground.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a welder;
• Knowledge of welding equipment, tools, and materials, including gas cylinders, welding machines, and cutting torches
• Knowledge in AutoCAD 2D and 3D required
• Strong skills in cabinetry, structural support and framing;
• Complete expanded inventory of hand and power tools;
• Knowledge of basic mechanical requirements;
• Ability to perform material takeoffs;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Proficient project and time management skills;
• Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and possesses a strong safety focus
• Journeyman certification required
• Ability to handle physical workload
• Exposure to extreme heat and outdoor weather conditions daily.
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places
• Prolonged exposure to loud noises
• Completion of first aid certificate
• Team player, motivator for others, detail-oriented and results-driven;
• Good physical condition and endurance (able to lift over 25 pounds);
• Good understanding of math as well as imperial and metric sizing;
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings (blueprints); and
• Safety focused.
