  Description :  
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in supporting duties for varies assigned projects including but not limited to, assisting in the planning and coordination of site activities, and accurately circulating, logging, and maintaining construction documents and assists inleading to the success of assigned projects. The Assistant Project Manager works closely with the Senior Project Manager and administers the daily management of these projects and is accountable for the overall project performance.

Essential Functions:

* Works closely with Project Manager, consultants, trades, inspectors, and regulatory agencies.
* Assist in the planning and coordination of site activities including meetings and taking/distribution of meeting minutes as required.
* Reviews technical drawings and processes/tracks in accordance with the procurement log.
* Assists in the tendering process as required by ensuring the trade/supplier has all required information for a complete quote.
* Records awarding contracts in accordance with the procurement schedule.
* Assists the Project Manager in the assemblance of contract components/pieces.
* Maintains good subcontractor and project owner relationships.
* Reviews subcontract and prime contract change orders for legitimacy and fairness.
* Efficiently tracks the prime contract schedule and identifies legitimate schedule delays.
* Thoroughly understands the scopes of work for various trades, writes comprehensive and complete scopes of work, and enforces the subcontract(s).
* Supports the site with day-to-day problem solving, as necessary.
* Supports the site with schedule preparation, enforcement, and monitoring.
* Manages a detailed occupancy procurement log to identify all requirements for occupancy.
* Assist in all project closeout documentation such as, as-builts, maintenance manuals, etc. in a timely fashion.
* Complies with and enforces VanMar policies and procedures.
* Ad-hoc projects assigned by management as required.

Job Specifications:

* Must hold post-secondary education in Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Project Management or a similar professional designation
* 4-5 years of experience in general construction; however, a focus on midrise and high-rise construction is preferred.
* Previous experience as a Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager and/or a combination.
Site / field experience is preferred.

* Knowledge of trade sequencing, construction methodology, and task durations.
* Proficiency with MS Office Project, Word, Excel, Procore, Bluebeam.
* Ability to use AutoCAD and/or Revit considered an asset.
* Ability to review and understand drawings, specifications, details, etc.
* A high level of technical understanding and experience.
* Proven leadership skills.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills within a team environment are required.
* Ability to manage a variety of constituencies, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities.
* Demonstrated proficiency interacting directly with customers, third party engineering consultants, trades, etc.
* Organizational skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities.
* Strong critical thinking skills and problem - solving skills.
* Excellent English communication skills – written and oral.
* A valid Ontario Driver’s License.
