Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our Hydro-Vac Truck Operator position in the Department of Public Works & Utilities.  Reporting to the Environmental Services Supervisor. The Hydro-Vac Truck Operator is responsible for the preventative maintenance programs by cleaning and inspecting City-owned sewer lines.

The position will also perform the following duties:
- Respond to emergency calls
- Operate auxiliary equipment
- Analyze and inspect deficient manholes and catch basins
- Locate underground infrastructure
- Use the CCTV to gather information
- Operate the pressure vessel
- Direct and supervise employees who may be assigned as helpers and assist in their training
- Follow all rules and regulations set out by OH&S and the City

The ideal candidate will have:
- Grade 12 education
- Valid Class 1A drivers license
- Level 2 Wastewater Collection Systems Operator Certification to be obtained within 6 months
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Water and Wastewater Branch with a Combination Hydro-vac/Flusher Truck OR 4 years experience in operation of Hydro-Vac trucks to expose underground utilities and other hydro excavating.
- Ability to maintain neat and accurate records and written reports
- Ability to diagnose equipment defects and make minor repairs
- Ability to work effectively without supervision
- Ability to establish harmonious working relations with supervisors and other employees
- Ability to comprehend utility plans
- Thorough knowledge of the required maintenance of sewer infrastructure, the tools used in the application of sewer cleaning and maintenance and the mechanics of the Combination Hydro-vac/Flusher Truck
