Job Description:
• Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units
• Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing
• Construct and install prefabricated masonry units
• Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations
• Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required
• Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
• Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces
• Lay radial bricks to build masonry shells of industrial chimneys
• Measuring the work area and setting out the first rows of bricks (courses) and the damp course
• Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer
May need to assist other workers
Assist to erect scarffolding
* Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Safety equipment/gear, Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Gloves
* Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Handling heavy loads, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling
* Personal Suitability: Accurate, Reliability, Team player, Effective interpersonal skills, Client focus
* Additional Skills: Estimate materials, labour, tools and equipment, Prepare tenders and quotations, Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, Instruct apprentices, Operate CADD and other computer software systems, Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures.

Job requirements
Languages: English
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
Work Location: GTA and surroundings
Type of Employment: Full time - Permanent
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $48.78
Hours: 35 to 44 hours / week
Benefits: As per union collective agreement.
Important Information:
- Flexibility in schedule is required.
