The full-time, permanent Research Methods Specialist will play an integral role within Reporting & Analytics by supporting thedevelopment of new analytic and reporting products and solutions for managing strategic, policy and care planning questions; usingbiostatistical and epidemiological approaches to inform health care management. In alignment with the CAMH Strategic Directionsand in support of the accountabilities of the Manager, Reporting & Analytics, the successful incumbent will provide analytic services tosupport the Clinical Programs at CAMH.
The successful candidate will report to Manager, Reporting and Analytics. They will be responsible for executing analytic plans whichsupport corporate strategies and clinical and operational business requirements and will work closely with clinical programs todevelop scorecards and operational reports for the management team. The Research Methods Specialist will perform and engage inthe development and implementation of analyses including interpreting data, developing and implementing data collection,supporting the development of appropriate methodologies, determining statistical techniques, implementing complex algorithms,conducting analyses, summarize and present key findings. The Research Methods Specialist will also be responsible to ensure thatthe latest methods for data analysis and quality are considered, and show initiative and innovation to continually improve our analyticapproaches, products, and data quality and will support the development and reporting of indicators for CAMH analytic reportingproducts.
The successful candidate will work with both internal and external partners to develop protocols for supplying analytic information tosupport decision-making, planning, and strategic implementation and will be required to interpret, summarize and synthesize resultsfor presentation to internal and external stakeholders. The successful applicant will possess an Honours Bachelor’s degree in a field such as statistics, operations research, biostatistics,epidemiology, health informatics, or recognized equivalent, and will have 5 years of related work experience with data analysis in ahealth facility or health research environment and/or expertise in statistical modelling or advanced analytics. A Master’s degree in arelevant field with at least 2 years’ experience in clinical or health services is preferred. Knowledge of Ontario’s health careenvironment is also an asset. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience with decision support, health policy,and/or model development and should be familiar with clinical, administrative and demographic databases and standards (e.g., DAD,OHIP, ODB, NACRS, OMHRS, etc.). They have strong programming skills in SAS, SQL, R, or equivalent statistical software. Theincumbent demonstrates advanced analytical and problem solving capability with excellent attention to detail. They have excellentinterpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills with experience interpreting, synthesizing research and technicalinformation as well as the ability to communicate to diverse audiences. The successful candidate has the ability to workindependently, take initiative, manage multiple priorities and also have the ability to work collaboratively and as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
