Royal Pacific Institute is our school’s official name, and Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology is our school’s operating name. Oshio College was established in Victoria, BC, Canada in 1999. Oshio College is Victoria’s oldest and most well-established college of traditional Chinese medicine.
Oshio College has two Victoria campuses: the Saanich Road location, at Suite #100, 3491 Saanich Road (just across from Uptown Plaza), and the Clinic at #110-1595 McKenzie Ave.
At Royal Pacific Institute, we offer an authentic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) education. Our teachers provide high-quality instruction with many years of experience in working as doctors in clinics and hospitals as well as teaching in TCM universities and colleges in China and Canada.
Job Duties:
1. Evaluate our website’s technical performance under the current architecture, create guiding mandates to direct future optimization of coding, and determine the appropriate programming languages suitable for further functional expansion.
2. Participate in team meetings with our management to set up a baseline for highlighting the strengths and advantages of our college in the Traditional Chinese Medicine scene.
3. Coordinate with the visual designing team to convert the wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into functional HTML/CSS/JavaScript codes that integrate with our website.
4. Program for improvements of website layouts, functions, and web traffic stability by writing well-designed, testable, efficient code.
5. Run regular tests and debugging process to ensure the correct code strings are used, analyze the data collected from back-end services, and upload consistent updates to ensure a bug-free experience for web visitors.
6. Optimize the existing codes by using efficient algorithms and data structures to reduce loading time, storing frequently accessed data in the cache to speed up retrieval, and reducing memory and CPU usage through better memory leak prevention.
7. Provide continued maintenance support for webpage services, receive customer feedback from the administrative team, and adopt new features to improve customer satisfaction.
8. Examine constructive suggestions from the management and apply plausible new website functions compatible across different devices, screen sizes, and platforms.
9. Document codebase, including comments and readme files, to help future patching or overhauling processes; ensure consistency in documentation style with clear and concise writings.
Qualifications:
1. The completion of a college program in computer science or real-world experience in a related field is usually required.
2. Proven former experience in the computer science industry is mandatory.
3. Proficient in popular programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and more.
4. Possess critical thinking skills when identifying, troubleshooting, and analyzing issues encountered at work.
5. Show the ability to personally come up with programming solutions for our website-related technical issues.
6. Display effective communication skills when making presentations to the company management.
7. Good time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
