About the Employer: Established in 1896, Deerhurst Resort has been one of Muskoka’s prominent destinations for those looking to explore the region in all seasons. Located 2 hours from Toronto, we have over 400 guest room accommodations featuring hotel rooms, lodge suites and resort home rentals. Dining options include 4 permanent restaurants and a seasonal venue, the Antler Steakhouse. Our culinary team works with 20 local food producers and the resort produces its own honey, herbs and maple syrup on site. Our busy culinary team is looking to hire First Cooks to join its culinary staff.
Job Duties:
• Prepare and cook complete meals, dishes and food for buffets at our various dining establishments across our resort
• Set up and oversee breakfast and lunch buffets
• Oversee kitchen operations
• Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers across our restaurants
• Clean kitchen and work area or direct kitchen helpers to assist with cleaning
• Help to plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
Terms of Employment: This is a permanent and full-time position, 40 hours of work per week

Wage: $19.00 per hour
Vacation: 4% paid out bi-weekly

Skill Requirements - Education and experience:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• Completion of college program or apprenticeship for cooks in cooking or food safety or equivalent (2-3 years) commercial cooking experience
