TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time position: 30 hours/week
Wage: 28.85$/hour
Vacation: 10 days of paid vacation per year
Work Location: In-person at 2052 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC V5N 2T3
Expected start date: As soon as possible.

Schedule:
Will be required to work, early mornings and late nights.
Might be required to work Straight Shifts, Split shifts
Might be required to work weekdays, weekends

Duties / Responsibilities:

Preparation Work:
-Check and prepare necessary baking items and ingredients for the day, focusing on those essential for Vietnamese and Singaporean recipes such as rice flour, tapioca flour, pandan leaves, and coconut milk.
-Prepare doughs and batters for traditional items and pastries that require specific textures and flavors unique to Vietnamese and Singaporean cuisines.


Work Implementation:

-Execute steps of bakery production, from mixing and fermenting to baking and finishing, with an emphasis on products like Vietnamese baguettes (for Bánh Mì), and various traditional cakes and desserts such as Ban Khaoi Mi, and Che.
-Control the quality of finished bakery products, ensuring they meet the authentic taste and texture profiles characteristic of Vietnamese and Singaporean baked goods.
-Ensure the preservation of bakery goods in appropriate storage conditions to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.
-Receive bakery goods supplies, package, and display items at the counter attractively, ensuring they represent the Vietnamese and Singaporean bakery traditions authentically.
-Regularly check inventory to ensure the availability of specialized baking ingredients and materials necessary for the menu.
-Implement the preservation process of raw materials and bakery goods following strict guidelines to maintain the integrity and flavors of traditional recipes.
-Maintain hygiene and sanitation in the bakery area, with particular attention to flour dust control and the safe handling of perishable ingredients.
-Wash baking tools and clean the workstation after baking processes, adhering to high standards of cleanliness specific to bakery operations.
-Ensure all bakery areas, including ovens, mixers, and preparation surfaces, are cleaned thoroughly to maintain food safety and quality.
-Tools and utensils must be cleaned and stored according to strict hygiene standards, especially those used for dough preparation and baking.

Other:

-Work with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure bakery products are delivered fresh and are well-integrated into the menu, including for special events or promotions featuring Vietnamese and Singaporean themes.
-Suggest ways to make the bakery work better, increase efficiency, improve the quality of products, and ensure the bakery's products are true to Vietnamese and Singaporean cooking styles.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Secondary School Certificate. Vocational training certificates are an asset.
2+ years of experience as a baker in commercial settings
2+ years of experience and knowledge in producing traditional Vietnamese doughs such as Vietnamese baguettes (Bánh Mì), and desserts such as Ban Khaoi Mi and Che.
Experienced with assessing quality of goods and raw materials, and operating various tools and machinery related to commercial baking.
