Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required;
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required;
- 3 years to less than 5 years of work experience as a cook or a chef in a restaurant is required.

Job duties:
- Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff;
- Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
- Create new recipes;
- Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food;
- Prepare and cook food on a regular basis;
- Prepare, cook, and present hot and cold appetizers and dishes such as Japanese style salad, miso soup, and Tataki;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style deep fried dishes such as Tempura, Karaage, and Tonkatsu;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style grilled fish and meat;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style noodle dishes;
- Prepare and present Sushi and other rice dishes;
- Prepare Dashi (Japanese stock);
- Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items, and labour costs;
- Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards;
- Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory;
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies.
