Café La Forêt in Burnaby, BC is looking for a Sous-chef to work with our team.
Title: Sous-chef
Opening: 1 position (Permanent, Full-time)
Salary: CAD 25.00 – 28.00 per hour, At least 30 hours per week
Benefit: 4% of gross pay or 10 days of paid vacation, Extended health and dental benefits after 6 months of employment
Location: 6848 Jubilee Avenue, Burnaby, BC, V5J 4B3
Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school education.
• Several years of commercial cooking experience is required.
• Professional experience as a sous-chef is required.
Main Duties:
• Manage the activities of chefs, cooks and other kitchen staff
• Prepare and cook dishes including brunch platters, pasta, fried chicken, soup, waffles and sandwiches
• Train cooks in food design, preparation and presentation
• Develop new menu with new trend ideas and recipes
• Plan menu and determine food portions and size
• Maintain good quality standards including consistency and presentation
• Monitor the inventory of food ingredients and supplies
• Coordinate and supervise work of kitchen staff
