Employment Term: Full-time, Permanent

Duties:
• Train, coordinate and supervise several junior staff in the entire coffee roasting process;
• Prepare the work schedules for the junior coffee roasters, to ensure that they are exposed to the entire process of coffee roaster to build confidence and knowledge in a practical roasting environment;
• Roast specialty Colombian green coffee in batches, ranging in multiple kilo bags and adjusting individual profiles for diverse products;
• Develop roasting notes and flavours for sale in the stores and online;
• Improve innovative coffee-based products to enhance the company's offerings;
• Overseeing the packaging and distribution for physical stores and online orders;
• Ensure that all materials for the coffee roasting process are in stock and requisition materials and supplies as required;
• Prepare reports and findings in the coffee roasting process;
• Conduct cupping sessions;
• Identify any production issues and recommend solutions to improve productivity and quality;
• Ensure that all Health and Safety rules and procedures are strictly observed and maintained.

Education:

Completion of high school (mandatory);
Basic Barista Certification;
Foundation in Roasting Skills Certification; and
Master Coffee Roaster Certification.

Desirable Additional Courses Undertaken:

Foundation Certificate in Sensory Skills;
Extraction, Uses and Applications of Essentials Oils; and
Coffee Production Labour Standards.

Experience:

Five years or more of coffee roasting;
At least five years of training junior staff in the coffee industry;
Three years or more in coffee cupping and developing new coffee products.

Skills: Extensive knowledge of the coffee process industry, from sourcing the best coffee beans to understanding the roasting techniques for the adaption and improvement on the roasting recipes of coffee products, based on customer and management feedback.

Salary: CAD $28.50 to CAD $30.00 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Language Requirements: English
