We are looking for a Human Resource Officer to join our growing team at Paper Plus. You will be working for a locally owned and operated supplies distribution company in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia that is focused on offering high quality goods for reasonable price.

We are seeking someone with a background in HR. In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting and selecting candidates, coordinating interviews, and advising on staffing policies. You will also handle job offers, grievance procedures, and staff consultations.

Main Responsibilities

- Assess and anticipate current and future staffing needs.
- Create and publish job postings and advertisements.
- Gather and evaluate job applications.
- Provide guidance to applicants regarding employment criteria and conditions.
- Review candidate pools and identify qualified individuals.
- Schedule interviews with potential candidates.
- Recruit graduates from educational institutions, including colleges and universities.
- Collaborate in selection and evaluation panels to assess candidates.
- Inform applicants of selection results and prepare employment offers.
- Advise management and staff on staffing policies and protocols.
- Manage employee consultations and handle grievance processes.

Qualifications

- A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in an HR role is mandatory.
- Experience of working with an organization with at least 15-20 staff or more members is mandatory.
- Proven experience in drafting workplace policies and compliance management in mandatory.
- You must have proven experience in recruitment, retention, development, talent attraction, performance evaluations and salary and benefits packaging.
- Experience in staff management in supply chain and distribution industry will be an asset.
- Candidates invited for interview will be required to provide professional references.
