This position requires the candidate to have a strong cultural understanding of the Indo-Pakistani community in Canada and experience providing legal services to individuals within that community. Job details

Business Location: 60 Columbia Way suite 207, Markham, ON, L3R 0C9
Location of work: On site at private practice business location. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Salary: $135,000 to $140,000 annually (To be negotiated) / 40 hours per Week
Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time
Start date: 2024-12-01
Working hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm

Qualifications
• Languages required: English
• Education: Earned doctorate degree – Juris Doctor
• Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Credentials
• Membership in a provincial or territorial law society

Responsibilities
• Advise clients of their legal rights and all matters related to law
• Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law
• Plead clients' cases before courts of law, tribunals and boards (lawyers only)
• Draw up legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
• Negotiate settlements of civil disputes (lawyers only)
• Represent interests of corporation/employer in all business related to legal matters
• Offer mediation, conciliation and arbitration services
• Supervise professional, para-legal and support staff and articling students
• Research legal precedents and gather evidence
• Advise clients on legal proceedings
• Represent clients before administrative tribunals
• Supervision of 1 to 2 people

Requirements
• Computer and technology knowledge: MS Outlook, MS Windows, MS Word
• Strong cultural understanding of the Indo-Pakistani community in Canada and experience providing legal services to individuals within that community.
