The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of authentic Indian and Pakistani dishes, providing guests with high-quality, flavorful meals that highlight the cultural richness of South Asian cuisine. This role requires expertise in traditional recipes, spices, and cooking methods specific to Indian and Pakistani culinary traditions. The cook will ensure adherence to food safety standards, manage kitchen operations, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and Cook Meals:
- Prepare a wide range of traditional Indian and Pakistani dishes, including appetizers, main courses, sides, and desserts.
- Follow traditional recipes, adjust spices, and experiment with flavors to achieve authentic tastes.
- Create daily menus and specials, incorporating seasonal ingredients and local availability.
• Kitchen Management:
- Manage inventory of ingredients and kitchen supplies, ensuring quality and freshness.
- Prepare and portion ingredients in advance, maintaining proper food storage and labeling.
• Quality Control:
- Ensure all dishes meet quality, taste, and presentation standards before serving.
- Maintain consistency in taste, portion sizes, and presentation across all meals.
• Health and Safety:
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, including safe handling of meat, dairy, and produce.
- Keep the kitchen, equipment, and utensils clean and sanitized at all times.
- Properly store ingredients to prevent contamination and spoilage.
• Adapt Recipes as Needed:
- Modify recipes to meet guest dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Qualifications
• Experience:
o Minimum 5 years proven experience in Indian and/or Pakistani cooking, with a deep understanding of traditional recipes and spices.
o Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is preferred.
• Skills:
o Knowledge of South Asian ingredients and cooking techniques.
o Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
o Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards in food preparation and presentation.
Work setting:
Willing to relocate. Willing to work at weekend and holidays.
Education:
Completion of secondary school or higher education
