JOB SUMMARY
Illuming Power Inc. (“IPI”), a trailblazer in fuel cell advancements, is actively seeking an accomplished Global Strategic Planning & Business Development Manager with a profound educational background and working experience in fuel cell technology. Reporting directly to the President of the Company, the Global Strategic Planning & Business Development Manager will play a critical role in driving IPI's business growth and expanding its market share in the rapidly evolving fuel cell sector globally. This key management position will require you to lead the Business Development (B&D) department, develop innovative strategies, and forge strong partnerships to accelerate the Company’s success in the fuel cell industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the Global Strategic Planning & Business Development Manager at IPI, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our cutting-edge fuel cell initiatives in the global market. You will oversee and advance critical aspects of IPI's business growth, market expansion, and client acquisition. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute both long-term strategic plans and short-term business development strategies for IPI's fuel cell business in the global market. This includes setting annual business objectives, analyzing market positioning, identifying growth opportunities, and formulating product and project strategies tailored to diverse application scenarios.
• Hydrogen Energy Models & Applications Initiatives Implementation: Coordinate and manage the analysis of emerging hydrogen energy models and applications, including renewable energy-based hydrogen production and green hydrogen utilization. Oversee the implementation of these initiatives to support IPI's growth in sustainable energy solutions in global markets.
• Global Market Positioning & Regional Strategies: Formulate and refine market positioning, development directions, and product expansion strategies based on the hydrogen energy goals of key countries and regions. Break down company-wide B&D targets into actionable regional goals and drive alignment with broader business objectives.
• Client Acquisition & Market Expansion: Lead IPI’s business development teams in acquiring and retaining global clients. Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and partnerships aligned with regional hydrogen energy strategies. Establish and oversee regional B&D teams to drive the expansion of IPI's product offerings across key markets.
• Business Development Policies & Project Negotiation: Design and implement departmental business development policies and procedures. Serve as the key negotiator in business discussions, ensuring clear alignment with project requirements. Lead efforts in securing and finalizing business contracts, ensuring successful outcomes for all parties involved.
• Project Management & Budget Oversight: Develop tailored project budgets and execution plans in line with the unique demands of each project. Collaborate closely with technical and product teams to ensure delivery according to agreed timelines, budgets, and contractual requirements.
• Collaboration with R&D for Product Innovation: In close coordination with the R&D department, drive the development of new hydrogen energy and fuel cell technologies. Define product requirements and collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration of new products into the market. Support the R&D team in establishing and implementing robust project management processes.
• Collaboration with stakeholders: Work closely with internal IPI teams, strategic partners, stakeholders, and other key resources to cultivate a collaborative ecosystem for the hydrogen energy and fuel cell sectors, driving the successful achievement of business development objectives.
• Performance Evaluation & Incentive Programs: Design and implement evaluation systems and performance-based incentive policies for business development teams across regions. Regularly assess and optimize these systems to reflect evolving business dynamics and performance metrics.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the business development team, including setting clear annual performance targets and driving individual growth. Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management to ensure the team's continued success meeting IPI’s business development objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• A university degree in engineering/science with focusing on hydrogen fuel cell technology or a closely related field
Experience
• A proven track record of more than 3 years in a business development manager role within the fuel cell or hydrogen industry
• Demonstrated experience in international business development in the fuel cells/ hydrogen-related industry
• Experience in advanced research or engineering development within fuel cells/hydrogen-related industry is highly advantageous
• Proven experience in project management in the fuel cells/hydrogen-related industry is a strong asset
Skills and Abilities:
• Proven ability to develop and execute long-term strategies that align with the Company’s vision and objectives, while effectively navigating challenges and identifying growth opportunities.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated capacity to develop innovative solutions to overcome business development challenges.
• Experience collaborating with R&D and cross-functional teams to align negotiation strategies with broader business goals.
• Proven leadership ability in motivating, inspiring, and guiding teams to achieve business objectives while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment both within the organization and with external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and engage effectively with staff and stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
