Description

Flying Dust First Nation is seeking a responsible person to fill the role of the Community Safety Officer. If selected training will be provided prior to employment. The CSO Induction Training Course is the minimum training requirement for issuance of a Special Constable Appointment for CSOs.  CSO Induction training is 6 weeks in class and held at Saskatchewan Polytechnic - Prince Albert Campus. Candidates must successfully pass the law exam, complete all assignments, pass control tactics (including use of OC spray, baton and handcuffs) and pass the physical ability test known as SOPAT (within 6 minutes).  Candidates should have a basic level of fitness which will ensure success in passing SOPAT.   The training consists of several areas including Introduction to Law, notetaking, investigations, report writing, community-based policing, restorative justice/alternative measures, gang awareness, verbal communication, control tactics, traffic stops with practical exercises, client services, scenario-based training exercises and much more.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
-Responding to crime and safety concerns raised by local residents, councillors and agencies.
-Consulting and advising on community safety policies and initiatives.
Qualifications:
    Candidates must be of good character, maturity, a sound mind and an exemplary background.
    Must make positive lifestyle choices, be addictions free and a good role model.
    Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
    Minimum age of 18 years old.
    Class 5 Drivers License (must not be a Novice 1 or Novice 2).
    No outstanding criminal charges/investigations.
