The Wellness Promoter is responsible for delivering mental health programming to schools to support healthy children and youth. This position works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to enhance capacity to meet the objectives of Mental Health initiatives by developing and delivering developmentally appropriate programming to children, youth, and families within school and classroom settings.
What will make you successful:
Diploma in a human service-related field (i.e.: Mental Health and Addictions Counselling, Youth Care Worker, Child and Youth Care Counsellor, Social Work Diploma).
Experience working in student-focused services such as mental health.
Working knowledge of client centered mental health and addictions interventions, practice methods and professional skills.
Key presentation and interpersonal skills to effectively engage a wide range of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally responsive services to a diverse group of clients.
Time management and organizational skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills utilizing strengths-based practices and solution focused interactions.
Strong communication and reporting skills, both verbally and in written form.
Ability to engage community resources, treatment centers, social services networks, non-profit organizations, and community businesses.
Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.
